How (& why) it started

Daniel and Matthew are two graduate students at a tiny liberal arts university in the Northwest who both will soon complete Masters degrees. Daniel specializes in political philosophy and Matthew in the history of science and medicine in the Enlightenment.

One day these two guys decided that the world wide web needed a site which purveyed news that was important to Christians as well as blog posts on Christian topics. Obviously this site would need to be updated on a nearly daily basis to keep up with all of the information that was out there. At this site people would be able to keep abreast of current events while simultaneously learning about new topics that might be of interest. While the internet is a nifty tool for finding out about anything, at the same time it can be kind of overwhelming. Christian Intel Daily was born out of a desire to help Christians not only see things important to them, but also important to other fellow believers too.

The decision to be as ecumenical as possible in selecting blogs was a no-brainer. The Church at its best has always engaged in conversations, both internal and external, and we saw no reason to alter that. While bias certainly impacts the selection of what is linked, we do try our best to garner opinions from a wide variety of views. The criteria is simply that there is an actual thought process evident and not merely a rant (although some rants make it through for being awesome).

As time has progressed, we have been joined by a few others who are also involved in contributing their own flavour of topics – and this is very good indeed.

Once you become a regular visitor we can almost guarantee that there will be something listed which will offend your doctrinal standing – heck, even WE get offended with each other from time to time. Lutherans might be offended at our Calvinist blogs, Conservatives with the Liberals, the younger with the older, the modernists with the curmudgeons... etc etc. But that is the beauty of it! Just as we all experience difference in culture, nationality, and personality, perhaps we can at least be familiarized with – while not necessarily agreeing with – our religious variances, and thus, come to appreciate them better.

Mission statement

Our mission at Christian Intel Daily is to each day provide you with a variety of news and blogs from around the Internet   which, in one way or another, have to do with the modern Christian experience. We strive to represent a broad array of voices and positions; it is   to this end   that we   draw   without discrimination   from Evangelical, Baptist, Mainline, Catholic, Emergent and a host of other   branches of Christianity.   Furthermore, we are interested in a multiplicity   of topics   ranging from   theology,   Biblical studies , Christians and culture to philosophy and politics,   as well as   anything else that happens to catch our eye. While we   ourselves   are not   a part of   this   online Christian conversation, we do hope to be the site where you can come to witness   the organic flow of this ongoing discourse. Christian Intel Daily is composed of the thoughts, passions and interests of the online community - our community - and we look forward to the opportunity of learning about the intricacies in the fabric of which we are a part.
